as hard as it was, you did the right thing. To "do all you can" to keep any animal (or person) alive is painful for all involved when it's terminal Sorry for your loss. grieve awhile, then use your love for animals, and save one from a shelter and give another one a great home. Brian B

15,000 oil filter.... easy to do.. it doesn't filter much.. so it can last 15,000 miles

The removal of moisture from the crankcase via running the engine to "oil" operating temp is the key. Moisture causes sludge and that's the main reason for engine problems and failures. The rule of thumb many moons ago was a min of 16 miles after start up would do the trick.. but it's...
