so I have a similar problem. My ST surges with the heat on. It will drop to about 650rpm when the compressor kicks on. Then it tries to break loose while braking. Any ideas?

ok similar problem but mine surges with the heat on. I hear the compressor kick on, the idle drops to about 650rpm. When in gear the truck tries to break loose from holding the brakes. Any ideas? I need to solve this before snow falls. Btw I replaced the common elbow leak beginning of spring.

All the Autozone batteries are made by johnson controls. Not really sure about the motorcraft ones.

I have a Duralast Gold 65 in my 02. Gotta say its been a great battery.:supercool:

I would lean towards battery. I know where it is really hot all the time the battery life is short. My in-laws live in Phoenix. A battery lasts about three years there. I think your ST is too new to have a ground problem.

I use it with the antifreeze in the mustang because the mustang has a tendency to run hot. Seems to work fine.

That is such crap! I cant believe that Ford hosed us like that. No ST no Ranger no Crown Vic. UGGGGGGHHH!! For small truck, we got left with the Transit or the regular Explorer. Nothing with a bed until you get to the F150. I guess my next truck will have to be an F150 with the Ecoboost...

When I did mine, I had to change the tensioner pulley, the idler pulley, and I put a Dayco belt on. I have had no problems so far.:driving:

This is almost an amusing issue. Seems as tho we have had similar issues in the SHO world too. Found out that no aftermarket "high-performance" coil is better than the stock one. GLad to see we can pay more money for a different color and get less performance.
