Maintenance on 02 sport trac with 86k miles

I've got an '02 with 150k miles. I've done all of the scheduled maintenance and a trans flush every 30k miles (in the early days of this forum, that was recommended with these transmissions). I think I had the pan dropped, instead of the flush, the last time. I don't believe I've ever had the...

I modified a Mustang hood scoop, and had it painted to match. It's attached with 3M double-sided tape.

    DVDSWAN 2002 Sport Trac

Nice truck! I have a 2002 Torredor Red Trac also. Quite a few mods, inside and out. 150k miles so far. Had to replace the four body mount bushings under the cab last year. This pic was taken on our move to Oregon in 2015. (Excuse the little crunchie on the fender 😆)

    Windshield wipers won't turn off.

Good suggestion. The tilt column will stretch against the wiring harness and pull some wires loose when tilted too far down. Usually, the turn signals are the victim when that happens. This is a common problem on Gen 1 Tracs.

I have the same plug. As far as the oil filter goes, I roll the sides of a Ziploc baggie down and line it with paper towels. Once I've loosened it with a wrench, I grab the filter with the baggie in my hand, and unscrew it. The bag captures the oil without getting any on my arm.

    Hi there

I agree. Chips were popular in the 2000s, but a retune is better.

    Hi there

Wow, that's quite a list. You're going to have a pretty sweet truck when you're done. Care to share some pics?

Jumping out of park on incline

Yeah. Mine loosened all the way and fell on the floor. It was quite a challenge figuring out where it came from, then putting it back in.

former sport trac owners what do you drive now?

Still driving my 2002. Original owner. It will probably be my daily driver until they take my keys away from me. 😃
