The other day I put led light strip inside the cap and figured I’d play with the brake light again, this time it worked

Found out there is a wiring harness between my rear bumper and spare tire with two wires sticking out of the harness, these are supposed to be for the third brake light on the cap, I spliced into these but there dead, anyone know of another way to get this brake light working on my cap? thanks...
