Had to say goodbye to my 01 Sport Trac after 12 years of loyal service. Repairs were getting to be to often and expensive. Thanks to everyone on this site that have helped me along the way. It was a sad day when I traded it in, but after all the years I was still given $3200. for the trade...

me, no I had them replaced by a mechanic friend along with some other stuff, sorry. He said they are simple to do the rear can be changed through the wheel well, the front he had to take off the intake.

Mine had the rattle also, replaced both tensioners- no more noise

Sorry for the abbreviation, it was Timming Chain. The rear tensioner was easy access through the passenger wheel well, the front was replaced by removing the intake. Well worth the $500.00 spent.

Finally got my cold start T/C rattle noise fixed. Replaced the tensioners and changed the spark plugs, only cost $500.00. Now on to the front end, slowly getting my Trac back in great condition.:banana:
