I offered to get the wife something new this year, she told me she would prefer if I fix the 01 up a bit instead. She hates new cars, nothing appeals to her. I may end up doing all polyurethane upgrade on the entire front end.
Check to heater wire for voltage, also plug one in at a time and look for voltage drop. I don't know the circuit off-hand but if you get the same fault across two sensors at the same time I suspect they are parallel wired off of the same circuit. A short in one can cause an over current to be...
Both at the same time is a warning bell. I would be looking at the heater circuit for faults even if you do replace the sensors or even unplugging one at a time.
Jack the body, remove the mount, sandblast the area, weld in a 16 or 14 gauge sheet metal patch, undercoat and away you go. 3K is highway robbery. If you were local I would weld it in for a bottle of dark rum and a 12 case of Guinness.
Thought of an engine swap, the 5.0 isn't worthy to me. I would rather the blasphemy of fitting a LS-6 and stand alone ECUs/harness. Can't believe I just typed that
