This happened to me on a Bronco a few years back. It is the actuator getting weak, you'll have to replace it. Not a bad job, just fiddly. If I remember correctly you'll need a very short 1/4" bolt with a low profile head and a nut to replace the rivet that will need drilled out.

Unfortunately I am new to STs and don't have the same model as you. Hopefully someone will be along shortly with more specific information. I'd also suggest checking the lever/cable adjustments on the shift linkage as that could be a cause too.
