Help interior and exterior door handles are broken

No, I'm having a GREAT day. Just paid off the mortgage for the house I've been living in since 1959. Nice, and now time to start enjoying my recent retirement. Can't imagine your frustration Todd. Been following you since I joined your site in 2009. All the effort YOU personally put into...

Help interior and exterior door handles are broken

I posted exterior and interior door handle repair links yesterday with no response so I deleted them. I'll repost and would appreciate a response. They are not difficult jobs, but require some basic tools and working in confined and dark space. Don't know your DIY skill level, but check out...

Thanks Dillard. Wasn't it you who originally posted these WM archives? If not, I'm trying to remember who it was. Can't find that post and the reason I requested it being a "sticky". Maybe blert?

For those that missed this a while back. Projects were submitted on Todd Z's former site. Most projects are still there, but not all. https://web.archive.org/web/20160620073537fw_/http://www.mysporttrac.com/shared/projects.asp?PageHeader=Member%20Projects&PageTitle=The%20Sport%20Trac%20Web%20Site

    New Head light's

These are the tails shown in the pic. I had to pay around $30 shipping to Hawaii. https://www.ebay.com/itm/274382325450 I believe these are solid black without clear lenses...

    New Head light's

Neat thing is these aftermarket black tails are DOT stamped, approved, and legal. There are two types. Mine have a clear outer lens and the others don't. Bought these years ago for around $100 pair.

BTW, black tails on white Sport Tracs look awesome. ; ) JMO

    New Head light's

Nice. but wouldn't call them black per the Amazon description. More like opaque. Considered installing those "black" housings with clear corners years ago until I saw actual pics. For around $200. I bought a larger rear sway bar instead. Best decision I ever made for my Trac. Every 6 months I...

    Passenger door lockout

Front actuators and latches were pretty easy for me. Rear with the glass run channel in the way is something I never want to do again. Had the finger cuts from razor sharp sheet metal to prove it. Leather gloves don't work when you need "feel". Found it much easier to cut the white plastic...

    Passenger door lockout

PCV valve mounted in the rear of the driver side valve cover is ridiculously close to the firewall. Replacing the rear door actuator was another one of the more difficult jobs on my 2005. There is so little space and visibility, plus Ford made the glass run channel irremovable for the rear...

    Passenger door lockout

^ Maybe non use, Dirty, dry lock cylinders and door latches are prone to failure and should be cleaned and lubricated periodically especially if not used. Common problem with door lock cylinders sticking and not turning freely with a key. Same applies to all the door lock mechanisms and...

    Passenger door lockout

No sourcing actuator nylon gears. After I discovered ALL the actuator motors are the same I just bought the cheapest OE replacements and reused the brackets. Just seems like too much trouble to rebuild the motors anyway. Three main failure points with Explorer door locks are the latches with...
