Same here, 225k miles on 1st gen. no rattle but at 67yo, I want to drive it until I pass it on to gkids, so engine overhaul/replacement is inevitable reality.

Same here, both 2001 but different oil fill locations and manifold

Is one motor better or more HP than other? I bought an identical 01 ST from estate sale, it recently had most all front end and rear components replaced. Got it home noticed small differences at motor. Where or what to look for to identify which type? Thanks.

AIN'T that the TRUTH

I'm interested in side mirror upgrades as I just acquired a boat and I use my ST for towing it, but stock mirrors aren't adequate. I'm better at negotiating a trailer than I am Sport Trac forums which I dont even own a desktop, just my phone.

Is the 5R55E the transmission? I have 2- 2001 ST, retiring this June, plan to restore both, one for me, one for grandson. Trying to gather information. Thanks Art Call

Thank you so much for sharing that. At my age I'm a bit more mechanical than computer inclined. Plus I use my phone over our dinosaur desktop, and get research overload . I just bought a 2nd, 01 ST, both same color, going to 1st repaint low mileage one I just got similar to my best-picture, then...

If you are replacing the body bushings and timing chain sensors yourself I hope you will post some video or comment on your experience. I'm thinking about trying it myself? Thanks
