    Timing Chain Tensioner's replacement

Not the tensioner. It's down on the back side of the engine. You only need to pull the engine if you are doing a full timing replacement

    Timing Chain Tensioner's replacement

For just replacing tensioners, it doesn't hurt to soak them in oil overnight and cycle them manually a few times while submerged in oil. You don't have to worry about the timing position being set to top dead center

    Timing Chain Tensioner's replacement

The best guidance I have seen on the 4.0 timing set replacement is a 4 part series that can be found here:

    High mileage 2004 RWD

Guess you should look at the sensors on the wheels to see if you have a connection loose or bad wire. If they all look good, you'll need a good scanner to see which one is bad or go to a shop to have them scan and find it

    Seat Recline Handle

Junk yards won't just sell you the handle unless you can find one that lets you pull the parts yourself. It's not hard to get them off. You can already see what tools you'll need by looking at the hardware on your truck. I have a whole portable kit I put together, so I was carrying way more than...

    Seat Recline Handle

That metal fabricated monstrosity looks awful. Best to just find a good pair in a boneyard. I did that and they look like new.

    Seat Recline Handle

You are on your own. I found replacements in a junk yard after a few failed attempts to adapt other handles.

    Dreaded Rattle at Idle

Pulling the motor isn't that hard if you've got an engine hoist and stand. I didn't even have to remove the AC compressor. I just unbolted it and laid it to the side. Saved me money on recover and recharge of Freon. You can get a decent set of timing tools from Amazon for relatively cheap. There...

    Clunky noises

I would suggest taking it to a shop for inspection. It's almost impossible to diagnose anything though the Internet. Most shops charge a minimal fee for an inspection and some will credit that fee towards labor on the repair or waive the fee if they do the repairs.

    Replacement seats

I put 2005 Sport Trac seats in my 2000 Ranger. Just had to swap the rails. They fit and work perfectly

    Brakes, Caliper & Rotor combo

These are over-hyped. The calipers are the same as stock and the pads are the same grade as AutoZone. Spend your money on Akebono ceramic pads and EBC slotted rotors. They are a much higher quality brake pad and rotor. I have them on all my vehicles and it's the only ones I recommend for my...

DVDSWAN 02 Sport Trac Build/Maintenance thread

A rolling box of several tools. Wrenches, sockets, screw drivers, pliers, etc. No cutting tools. Most won't let you in with a sawzall

    03 Rear window

At least yours is still working. Mine went out over a year ago and I still can't get an aftermarket replacement. I only know about doorman making it and they haven't made any in over a year 😢

Pre/Post timing chain issues of early Gen1

Because plastic is cheaper. Also, metal is noisier since you would have metal on metal which is not a good thing when it comes to chains

Pre/Post timing chain issues of early Gen1

How much are they asking for it. My 03 only has 127k on it. I just pulled the motor and replaced all the timing components. They weren't broken, but I was getting a slight rattle at start up, so I just took it out and swapped them all. Also ultrasonic cleaned and tested the injectors and did a...

    Dreaded Rattle at Idle

You probably won't see much but smaller pieces. The larger ones get trapped.in the cradle aka upper pan. I strongly suggest planning to pull the motor and replace all the timing components or at least all the cassettes. You can get a timing tools set from Amazon for pretty cheap
  17. S

    Dreaded Rattle at Idle

Yep. Now you'll have to pull the motor out to replace that cassette.

    Dreaded Rattle at Idle

There is no way to change any of the timing components or guides on the passenger side without pulling the motor. It's just the way it is with the 4.0 motors. I just did mine. It wasn't too bad. Since the AC line from the compressor goes down below the front of the engine, I was able to unbolt...

    2001 Sport Trac 4x4 5R55E Removal

I took the passenger side fender liner out and was able to get to them pretty easily, but I have a 3 inch body lift. Taking the manifold off is really the easiest way if you can't get to them from the side like I did. The other way is more difficult and you'll need a few long extensions.

2001 - Suggestions for Front Seats?

It was my truck that has the 2-tone upholstery from leatherseats.com. I had never done upholstery before. It wasn't that hard and the new leather fit perfectly. The company was very thorough. All you really need is some patience and hog ring pliers with hog rings. I got a pair of of Amazon.
