Wierd sound after fixing "check engine" light

I don't know how to describe this noise, but I just noticed it. I recently installed Rancho RSX shocks on my '04 Trac. While installing the rear shocks, I dropped down a plastic box which seems to be attached to the gas tank emissions system (i.e. vapor recovery?). My check engine light came on...

Rancho RSX too stiff or not?

I read a lot about the Rancho RSX's being stiff for the road, but I was pleasantly surprised to find them not too bad. I do get more control with them, but I am talking about '04 2WD and primarily street stuff; speed bumps, driven fairly aggressively, but I like 'em so far. Still, the EE swaybar...

    Shocks or Sway Bars first?

This is just my opinion, but I was a bit surprised after changing each: sway bar did WAY more than I ever imagined it would; shocks did less. I installed the EE sway bar quite a while back. I later realized after a near-accident that I would have rolled without it. The handling is dramatically...

    Rancho RSX Shock Installation

Finally installed the rears. Dropped the breather box (five 13mm bolts, socket wratchet works) and one hose popped off. I left the rest of it connected and just moved around it. Replacement nuts for top of new shocks is 13mm (I used open end wrench), and 10mm bolts (used screwdriver socket). But...

I'm Shocked! (Shocked I tell you!)

Just installed some Rancho RSX's tonight. Haven't had a chance to drive yet, but soon I'll post my impressions. The looked better than the Monroes so that was my main reason for buying them.

    Rancho RSX Shock Installation

Thank you for your quick reply! This site is the best. I will work on the fronts (easier?) after dinner, and see how it goes. Might ask more questions.... Thanks.

    Rancho RSX Shock Installation

Sorry to be so dumb, but which end of the red boot goes up? I have the front shocks ready to install and assume the "notched" end goes by the end with the "t" bolt mount. Where does the zip tie go? Are the rear shocks the same? Thanks, sorry to ask silly question, just want to do it right the...

    Rancho rsx shocks

Will post new topic; meant the front shocks.

    Rancho rsx shocks

I know this is a dumb question, but what side of the boot is up? There is one side that is wide and "notched" as if for the top bolt mounts (probably it), but on the picture on the project that I printed, it did not seem to be visible there. And the zip tie goes on which end? Thanks, sorry to be...

    Rotating Tires

Pattern is front to back, same side, correct? I have not taken the time to look it up, but if I'm wrong, please post here for benefit of others, as the question was referenced above. Thank you.

Need mail order company for shocks

SeattleSportTrac, I'd like to use a Site Sponsor. What is the door to door price on 4 RSX's to San Diego? I believe there is a $40 rebate offer right now as well. '04 2WD. Thanks.

    Rancho rsx shocks

Any suggestions on where to get the RSX's? I have shopped around San Diego today and they are hard to find, and expensive compared to the Monroe Reflexes (almost double). Thanks.

    S/T Front tire cupping...Let's talk

I have serious cupping on the fronts, started around 30K(?). Only suspension mod is the EE rear sway bar I put on around 20K (?). Just rotated (front to back) and will get new shocks and keep an eye on the "new" fronts for a while and see what happens and report.

    Looking for wheels

those are so nice, and the tires I'm looking for. what are the benefits/disadvantages of going with 18" wheels? Braking, ride, milage, etc.? Thanks.

    Upgrading Shocks

All I can say about the EE swaybar is that it made such a difference that I would not recommend anyone drive the vehicle without one. It saved my life when I had to swerve on the freeway to miss a refrigerator box, last second, at speed. I'm sure I would have rolled with the stock bar. I am...

Tires cupping on front, 1 rear has leak, time for tires?

those look nice. i know next to nothing about aftermarket wheels, the benefits of going to 18" wheels (aren't they 16" stock?), etc. Can anyone elaborate? milage, performance, pros/cons, etc.? Thank you.

    Rancho rsx shocks

I'm into supporting site sponsors, but your website just seems to show stickers. I'm deciding between Monroe Reflex, Monroe Sensa-trac, and Rancho RSX. Can you sell these? Thanks.

Tires cupping on front, 1 rear has leak, time for tires?

2004 with 45K miles: I have developed a leak on a rear stock Goodyear Wrangler RT/S that requires refilling every couple days. No obvious source. The fronts are both cupped. Time for new tires? Southern California driving, mostly freeway and around town with occassional Baja on-road, and winter...

    e85 fuel

I think you're supposed to only run 1/2 tank e85, 1/2 tank gasoline (better check). I pay around $3.29/gallon, while gasoline is around a dollar less a gallon here in San Diego (believe there is only one place around town to buy it). I do it to keep a bit more $ in the US and not give to our...
