Squeak changes with RPM after Thermostat replacement

Be careful with soap and water around the pulley bearings. They are sealed bearings but the seal is not water tight and if soap gets in the bearing will die shortly after. They can be re-lubed but replacing them is fairly inexpensive and beats pulling them out, carefully removing the seal, clean...

Squeak changes with RPM after Thermostat replacement

Did you also change the belt tensioner? They wear out too and should probably be replaced with the belt. Is cheap and easy. The idler pulley wears out also. Another item to inspect and replace with the belt. Is cheap and easy. Some spray lube can help to find if the bearings in one of the...

    TIC,TIC,TIC

No need to yell, just trying to help. ;) Is it the relay making the noise, as turn signal relays do? If so, maybe a short to ground somewhere? Any of your LEDs burnt up (all lights working)? Pull turn signal bulbs until it stops or get a meter on it.

    TIC,TIC,TIC

Try to isolate the issue. Does this sound happen constantly or can you make it stop? Turn off everything. Turn things on one at a time until it happens again. Don't forget brake lights and reverse lights.

Can't hurt to clean the connectors. Mayhaps corrosion has caused a voltage drop?

    Smoke from passenger rear wheel

Well, the tech says the bearings are fine. Also says that the cause of the problem was the parking brake being assembled wrong by the person who did the brakes last (BIL). The shoe was out of its clips and rubbing and just happened to jam up hard yesterday. Said he fixed that and all is well. I...

    Smoke from passenger rear wheel

So sorry brother. Here's to hoping that she's not an ulra-co-dependant nut-case with no problem-solving or life skills that you have been trying to get out of your house for the past nine months, then, just when there is a glimmer of hope that she is moving out, her car does this.

    Smoke from passenger rear wheel

Chances are it still could be just a caliper issue. It's just that I was not comfortable with the sound it was making. If it was my truck it would concern me and I would seek professional help, and that is what I told the MIL. It could be normal, I have no clue. A professional tech will be in a...

    Smoke from passenger rear wheel

I'll update this just 'cuz... I lifted the rear end and took the wheel apart. Evidence of much burning on the outboard brake pad. Rotor looks in good shape. Brake line looks in good shape. Caliper looks in good shape and did not seem frozen, though it may have loosened up when it cooled...

    Smoke from passenger rear wheel

Posting this in off-topic because it's a 2002 Lincoln Towncar but there are some good folks here and I need some guidance. The MIL pulled into a doc appointment today with smoke pouring out of the passenger rear wheel. She call the FD just in case and they temp'd it at ~300f when they got...

Edit: Hey, I'm sorry about this. Any time I hear that word my brain goes right to this scene.

    Several codes today

Are you still getting the MAF sensor code? If so, that is where I would start. Clean it, reset, retry. You mention an "intake gasket" was replaced. There are a few gaskets in the intake system, which one did he replace? I would suggest taking the 'big tube thing' apart and inspecting it for...

    2001 Manual Sport Trac

Do basic maintenance before modifications. Change all fluids: engine oil, transmission fluid, differential oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant. Check brake pads/shoes, grease the caliper slide pins and the spring bits in the drums. Change sparkplugs and wires. Change serpentine belt...

    Back-up Sensor volume

Darn. Well, there a bunch of folks here and one of them will probably know. Can't believe I am saying this but... there is a Facebook (cringey shiver) group that I have heard is quite active. There is also a subreddit but it is not terribly active... r/SportTrac

    Back-up Sensor volume

Not sure about that, my '01 doesn't have fancy backup beeper but my wife's '19 Murano does. It beeps through the radio speakers so if I want to adjust the volume I first must make it beep, get real close to something, and use the radio volume knob to adjust. Can't hurt to try.

    AC compressor rapid cycling

Alright, I'll just let the shop deal with it then. It's too hot to be out working on the thing anyway. Thank you.
