2001 ST V-6 (build 05/00) does not hold fuel pressure at fuel rail

Just in case also you might check the EGR purge valve on the drivers side bolted to the intake manifold. If bad it might be not closing the EGR valve at startup causing it hard to start. Its has a 12 volt plug from the computer. Removed from the manifold (two screws) and two vacuum hoses one...

2001 ST V-6 (build 05/00) does not hold fuel pressure at fuel rail

If you have a purge valve on the end of fuel rail (drivers side on non-return system ) which is almost impossible to see unless you remove the coil pack one way to test is take the vacuum hose off the end and see if any fuel has ruptured the purge valve diaphragm and is sucking fuel into the...

2001 ST V-6 (build 05/00) does not hold fuel pressure at fuel rail

If your sport trac has a non-return fuel system the fuel pump runs at variable speeds upon engine demands. It can be overlooked as a faulty fuel pump easily. 35 to 40 psi is probably normal at idle. Might be a fuel filter if not changes during new pump install. I found that anything that causes...

    What a rabbit hole ......

I have been fighting an issue with our 2001 Sport Trac for more years than I can remember. Hot restarting and stalling. No engine light, no overheating, no codes. We avoided being stranded by just driving it during winter cooler months but this was bugging me more than I can say. Having retired...

    Intake Gaskets Replacement Findings

I'm still getting a wave of idle variations. Vacuum leak or something else? After doing some research about what could flood the intake with air and I came across a video about this electric vacuum regulator. It opens and closes the ERG valve. So bench tested and sure enough the solenoid was un...

    Intake Vac Connector

I saw this in a earlier post. Where can I find? Thanks

    Cracked Intake Manifold

Anyone experienced this issue. I have been doing reasarch and early sport trac's had problems with this. Some I understand was recalled. If you have experienced this how did you finally find the crack aside from the obvious vacuum leak issues with content unstable and rough idle.

    Intake Gaskets Replacement Findings

Just o-rings on bottom of intake. What is the issues with failing injector o-rings? Didn't see any fuel residue or have any smell of fuel.

    Intake Gaskets Replacement Findings

So anyway job completed. Runs fine. I did notice while removing some of the bolts which hold down the intake were not as tight as some of the others. Wondering if these eventually cause the gaskets to fail during hot restarts and maybe causing intermittent stalling. I thought I saw a mention of...

    Intake Gaskets Replacement Findings

So I'm mid steam with replacing my intake rubber intake gaskets on my 2001 Sport Trac. [See Pictures] I'm a little surprised about the amount of oil around the rubber gaskets. Wondering if this is normal? Engine runs decent but was having an intermittent stalling issue after being parked after...

Still having misfires. Could use some input.

I'd check your coil. I replace with an Auto Zone and it lasted a year. Replaced again with OEM and good to go! It caused a bad miss on my Sport Trac. I thought I burned a valve. You can test by with a thick leather glove pull each cable and see if your getting a good spark between the wire and...

    Oil Leaking AC hose

Just a follow up on this project. It's in the 100's almost everyday. Truck is running fine. The A/C repair job was a complete success. Truck sits in traffic at idle running and A/C cooling fine. I have temp probe in my upper vent and it's a steady 45 degrees. I'd like to mention though that...

    Oil Leaking AC hose

Yes they are available at several places out here but would rather have equipment on hand for future if I get the itch at 3 am in the morning to begin another project. My Sport Trac is a 2001 so I like having tools on hand. Only cost me around a hundred on Amazon. My truck isn't a daily driver...

    Oil Leaking AC hose

Finished AC high side hose leak project. What a bear.... Once I got the hose I delivered and I was looking at it on the ground the panic began to set in. This is not going to be an easy task getting this curved, bent hose down around the engine across and over to the other side to accumulator...

    Oil Leaking AC hose

As of now the system is working fine so i'm not seeing any major problems. Just wanted to replace this hose before summer comes. If the compressor oil won't run out the back after removing the compressor manifold connector I'm not seeing a major issue according to my mechanical skill. Thanks

    Oil Leaking AC hose

I have developed a small seepage of oil on the AC hose coming off the back of the compressor. (part # YF3660). I know the AC system has oil for the pump however my question is if I remove this hose off the back of the compressor will the system oil run out of the back of the pump if the pump is...

Water Pump Issues causes "back order" at Ford?

Began my project. Guess what I found as far as OEM gasket. It is metal. So going as planned with what came with new pump, metal. Came off easy once I removed the alternator bracket. Also after removing the fan assembly found some serious cracks around the fan near the clutch base. So ordered new...

Water Pump Issues causes "back order" at Ford?

Thanks for reply Dillard000, I attached context of shipping box with shelf label that I thought would indicate a production date and place of origin. Pic #3, #4 and #5 shows the gasket. Seems it's coated with what looks to me some sort of teflon. Also it looks like a crush type by the looks of...
