Is it true that the keyless entry can changed by inputting the VIN into the pad? I cannot find the code under the dash.

Saw a thread that said an original door code was under a windshield plate, but that wasn't true. Ford, in Hawaii at least, refuse to help with an 03. Any advice is welcome.
