    what kind of gears??

Go with name brand gears. Yukon are one of the best. There is a vendor on EBay ("discountgearing" i think) that I got a quote from for Yukon gears, front and rear, with both master install kits for around $550 for parts only, which is the cheapest I've found. It'll cost you at least another $500...

    Torsion bolts

http://www.fastenal.com/web/products/detail.ex?sku=0127172 These are a little long, but its the closest you'll find and you can always grind them down a little and shorten them (if you bottom them out they will hang down about 3/4" below the torsion bar bracket). I used these exact bolts on...

Looking to invest in stocks on my own, anyone have issues with Scott Trade or a better company?

Also take a look at Sharebuilder.com. They have $4 trades and no minimums.

    Any Blue Batteries Besides Optima??

Autozone has Duralast brand marine batteries that have blue tops. Not sure if they have an exact fit 65 series but they cost 1/3 as much as a Blue Top Optima would.

Food For Though - 4.6L V8 engine swap

Yeah, if you had someone do it for you, it would definately get expensive. If you could do it yourself, you could probably get by for around 2 grand if you used a used engine and didn't rebuild it at all. This isn't including any money you might make back though selling off the old 4.0 and...

Food For Though - 4.6L V8 engine swap

I do not plan on doing this swap and I am not asking if it is feasible or whether or not I should do it. I simply want to share this information with everyone: What works in a Ranger, will work in a Sport Trac :D It is far from a bolt on affair, but it is also far from the nightmare...

    New Tranny or V8 swap??

For those of you that said a 5.0L wouldn't fit without major mods to the frame/fenders/ inner fenders/ etc. http://www.rangerpowersports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164909 Yes, I know it's a ranger. But a ranger had the exact same front frame/suspension/inner fenders/fireall/radiator...

    New Tranny or V8 swap??

Richard, The metal inner fender panels and the fender rails (the structural portions under the outer fender skins) are the exact same part numbers on a 4-door V8 and a Sport Trac. Look up that part numbers your self if you don't believe me. The only thing different on a Sport Trac is the...

    New Tranny or V8 swap??

Richard, I am not by any means trying to start an argument here, I am simply trying to defend my position with the information that I have. If you would like to continue this conversation outside of the forum please shoot me an email and I will gladly discuss it with you. Now, on to my...

    New Tranny or V8 swap??

But the Explorer Sport front end was the same as a 4 door Explorer front end. No, they never had a V8 Sport, but the front ends are still identical. Everything mounts in the same place and the horns on the frame that the engine mounts bolt to are the same. All the suspension and steering...

    ENGINE SWAP

Anything is possible with enough money, but you could probably buy an 07 before you could feasibly do this swap. If you want a V8 look for a 96-01 Explorer with the 5.0L. It's actually possible and would be pretty straightforward and easy.

    New Tranny or V8 swap??

A V8 swap would be very easy actually. You just have to make sure to have the right donor vehicle. ;) In particular, you need a 96-01 4 door Explorer with a 5.0 V8. With this motor, pretty much everything is bolt up. Everything from the back of the cab on a sport trac to the front of the frame...

Give me your misc part list ..

I need an armrest and hinge assembly from a standard series console (armrest flips up so you can get you the soft carry bag). I also need the hardware and bracket that attaches to the floor at the back of the console.

    SAS On A ST?

Check out www.explorerforum.com . There are several guys that have done an SAS on the front of their 2nd gen Explorers. The front suspensions and frames are exactly the same as our Tracs so all the same information should apply.
