    Thanks for the feedback. The battery voltage was at 13.2 and it was only 6mos old. What we found out was that the battery (an Interstate) was bad and it wasn't putting out enough CCAs and so, the solenoid and starter fried as a result.     Thanks for your guidance. The volts were good but the CCAs were abysmal. The battery is toast...and...the lack of CCAs effectively killed the starter (it is functioning intermittently). Oh, and my rack and pinion has a split forming in a line. Guess I will have to be replacing that, too. $$$

    I just cleaned all of the connections, terminals are bright and shiny. Battery is 5 months old and with full 12.4 volts.
