    New Ranger Lariat

Being a month shy of 20 years old, I sold my Sport Trac Premium with 90,000 miles. It has been a good truck and I never had any serious issues or major problems, but it lacked some of the technology I wanted. So, on Friday the 13th I picked up my new Ranger Lariat. Hopefully it will serve me as...

    Cover removal

One other tip to remember is to make sure all four latches are unlocked before you close each section. I have had a couple of instances when I installed the cover w/o checking the latches and had a bear of a time trying to get the stuck latch unlocked once the cover was closed. The last time...

    Seat belt retraction

I had the same problem and the dealer a fix it years ago. Now it is acting up again. The biggest issue for me is often I close the door on the metal piece. Over time this chipped the paint on the door and living in the NE it has now begun to rust.

    Cigarette light port mod

I know this doesn't answer your question re: re-wiring the plug to kill it when you turn off the truck, but I picked up a Victsing converter to use for hands free phone calls and play music on a usb drive. It has to usb slots, 1 for the music usb and 1 to use as a charger. It was inexpensive and...

Should Tonneau cover locks match ignition key?

I bought my cover used from an owner who leased the Trac. So, I got a deal but no key. I have a friend who is a locksmith who changed the lock to match the ignition key for about $40 and a few drams of a nice scotch.

My 04 gets around 13 average. Best I ever got was 17 mpg when she was new and my then girlfriend bugged me to do the speed limit from Western Ma to York Maine. All highway driving. Filled up when we left and again as soon as we arrived. Never saw that mileage since.

2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT 2wd 304,161 miles

I had ordered an 05 Sport Trac and shortly after my dealer called me and offered a deal on one of two 04s he had. He said there was a $3000 rebate from Ford for previous owners and he would knock another $3000 of list. He also told me the feds were giving $2000 of for E-85 vehicles. I also...

2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT 2wd 304,161 miles

My 04 Sport Trac is rare exception in regards to the transmission. To the best of my knowledge all Sport Tracs from 01 to 05 had 5 speed transmissions. When I hit 30,000 miles I brought it in for a fluid and filter change. When the owner quoted me a cost of $160. I asked why it was so much and...
