    Aloha: Check Engine Codes O2...

My response is based on the assertion that aforementioned mechanic has verified the 12v reference (koeo) at each O2 heater circuit wire and that the wires are good and not melted to the exhaust. Having that many codes at once all dealing with the same system (emissions controls) is screaming...

Which is truly the Best Spark Plug For a 2nd Gen 2007 Explorer Sport Trac 4.0 V6?

As always, be sure not to get any anti seize on the tip of the business end of the plug or you will get a misfire.

Which is truly the Best Spark Plug For a 2nd Gen 2007 Explorer Sport Trac 4.0 V6?

Just FYI, anti-seize will not help or prevent the breakage. The piece that breaks off is well below the threaded section. Below the threads in the head is basically a tube. It gets packed with corrosion and carbon build up that causes it to seize and break of during removal. That’s why the...

    NGK Sparkplugs

Unless something has changed in the last few years that I am unaware of ….. you should never change the gap of a platinum fine wire plug. You can damage the finwire tip and or cause the platinum coating to flake at the bend on the ground electrode. A quality plug should come “pre gapped” for the...

Any emissions testing facility should be able to test the cap for you. Unless the govt has reno moved that function from the machines over the last ten years. Most of your drive through test centers may not have inspectors that have the permissions granted by the test site owner to access the...

    Engine shaking

That’s interesting. Before I retired 10yrs ago, I would say out of the thousands of new fuel caps from Stant maybe 1 or 2% were defective. In fact they were the company that made the adapters and calibration caps for the ESP Emissions test systems that we used as well as an OEM supplier. Unless...

Check the gas cap. It’s either loose or you need a new one. That is typically why the gas cap light is on. There could be other issues but that is the first step. If the cap isn’t loose, unscrew it and then screw it back down and make it click a couple of times. Clear the codes and drive it...

    Front end squeak noise!

Is while actually turning the wheel to the right to initiate the turn? Does it still make the noise while driving through the turn until you begin to move back to center/left?

If you want to narrow it down before spending/wasting money being a parts changer, swap #1 injector with another cylinder of your choice and see if the misfire follows with the swap. If it does then you know the injector is the problem.

I have not used the forscan product. I looked it up and it seems like there should be a “live” data stream option. I retired from wrenching professionally in 2010 and my trusty old Snap On Solus works for my needs as the only domestics that I currently have are the 01 ST and 95 F150. I use the...

    Engine shaking

Other questions…. Did you use anti seize on the spark plugs? If you get it on the electrode it will cause a misfire. Check to make sure that the plug gap was not closed?

    Front end squeak noise!

Spray the bushings with some wd40 or similar and see if it goes away for a bit.

Unfortunately a what does “changed everything” mean exactly? Did you change the coil pack? As PhilFrady has pointed out your long term fuel trim at the moment of the screen shot is high @25%. But, live data stream is more helpful than a screen shot of a “moment” in time.

    Engine shaking

If you have eliminated the ignition (plugs, wires, coil pack) Check the injector oring (cyl#1) and intake seals. With engine running, spray a blast of carb clean at the port where the injector is pushed into the intake. If there is a change with the idle the o-ring on the injector is leaking...

No problem at all. If you can get me a estimate of total weight and your shipping info, I can check with my UPS account. The truck is my sons so I may decide to ship it directly to him at college in VA and help him install it when I visit in a couple of weeks. Then I can send you the shipping...

Vibration above 70 mph - possible driveshaft?

Just a good rule of thumb from my previous life as a tech. If you feel something in the steering wheel only it’s typically going to be something related to the front end/wheels. If you feel it in the seat of your pants it’s typically going to be found in the rear end/wheels. Driveshafts will...
