My ST get side-swiped last week in our little ice storm. Entire drivers side is damaged to some degree.

With over 160K miles on an 02, KBB says it's now worth $7,400 (maybe) - what are the chances it gets totaled out?

No pics.

It'll need a new fender, both door panels, plastic parts around the bottom and paint all the way around to match.

I just have a nasty gut feeling that it's gonna get totaled out tomorrow.

here in NY if it is over 5,900 to fix it is as good as totaled.....

With paint blending and if the bed, doors fenders need repair, It is as good as totaled..

May get totalled, may not. Sounds close.

Either way, if the ST was previously in otherwise great condition you might want to figure out how to keep her and get her fixed.

If totalled, then talk to your insurance company (or the other guy's if in an at-fault state). They may settle with you, paying the total loss amount. You may then be able to buy-back the ST at salvage prices, get her fixed on the cheap by a collision place you trust and will work with you. When I say "on the cheap" and "work with you", some places will drop their prices if you are willing to run around looking for salvage parts, or if you are willing to wait a few weeks to get the vehicle back as they turn your project into pipe-filler work for their techs. Some shops seem to sharpen the pencil on their estimates when they know a person is paying out of pocket than what they would charge if paying an insurance company (shocking as that may seem, ha). When all is said and done you get the ST back, in almost original condition, and re-register under a salvage title if required by your state.

It's better than shopping for a new truck for some folks. If you would have been planning to drive her until she rots, then that might be the way to go, if it comes to that.

Good luck.

WOW- that picture is very close to our damage. More on the front fender and less on the bed.

Looking at autotrader I saw a similar ST for sale for 6K. Won't take much to total her out...

Yes, I had planned on driving this ST til the wheels fell off. Really just ill over this. Just replaced the in-dash with a full blow Kenwood Nav sat dvd blutooth system. It must be worth about as much as the ST now.

Dealer supply is really low on new STs. Any idea of what they might replace them with, if anything???

Thanks again ya'll

Dennis, if the cab corner isn't damaged then your parts are all bolt-on. Doors are $350-450, front fender $50 from Certifit/Atlanta, bedside less than $350/Ford new plus the paint. There's a guy around here with blue doors and bedside for sale on Craigslist. (ad is gone for now)

X2 what Tom said. Keep the truck as part of your insurance settlement and you can fix it pretty cheap, pocket the $$$ and be in good shape.

IIRC the one in the salvage link I posted above went for around $2000 +/-. You should be able to fix yours for around $2500 if you buy/install the parts yourself. So, if they offer you somewhere around $5000 and retain the vehicle then you're good.

Just a quick update - the ST is not totaled - the insurance company will be paying to fix it back up.

It was a very close call - within just a couple hundred bucks of being totaled out. Gonna have to

stay away from dangerous drivers from here on out, won't be able to get her fixed next time!!
