03 2wd ST Alternator vs 05 ST

I have an 2005 ST 4.0 Sohc 4x4 that I bought for parts first thing I noticed is on my 03 the harness on alternator has 2 wires and 1 main charge cable. on my 05 4x4 the alternator plug has 3 wires plus a single gray plug wire and the 1 charge cable. hmmm so next thing I noticed while comparing the 2 is the 2 bottom bolts are 1 inch further apart....... sooo I took alternator mounting bracket off my 4x4 and it mounted right up to my 03 block this allowed Me to install the 05 4x4 st alternator onto my 03 st 2wd. now I hooked up main cable and plugged harness in put belt on and started truck. the gauge I truck reads good charge but now my battery light is on and stays on..... hmmmm is there to make this work? thanks in advance Dave</p></blockquote><p></p>
