OK brand new to this site just bought an 03 sport trac and it has the pioneer system with the 6 disk, i personally dont like it and wanted to swap it out for an aftermarket one so i go to the futur shop and they tell me i will need to re wire the whole truck costing me an arm and a leg? i know im capable of doing this myself and was wondering if anyone could give me some directions and what wireing harness i could use if any. Thanks alot

Im a little surprised to hear that you had to "re-wire the whole truck" they seem to be trying to make to much money off of a simple job. I would avoid them in the future.

I suggest going to another audio shop. Start off fresh with some new people and tell them you want to install a deck into your truck. Then ask them what accessories you may need. They should tell you exactly what to do an supply you with a harness and head unit bezzle (sp) I did everything myself and it was easy to get the parts from an audio shop.

FYI: If you have the little sub in the back (comes with some tracs) it wont work after you swap out the head units.

Good Luck. Be sure to post your results when you are finished with your head unit. :)

thanks yeah im not sure i think i might just buy a headunit and make it work on my old explorer limited i had the same problems and they told me to basically re wire the truck so maybe ill just tear into her and see what happends, haha sweet looking truck by the way snooze next time i head down from vancouver bc ill keep an eye out haha

Canadian - try Visions electronics, they can always find the wiring harness adapter for you. I have ordered three different ones through them, for older and newer vehicles.
