Got an 07' LTD 4x4.

Lately noticed, on cold startup, shift lever is not being released by solenoid when I step on the Brake Pedal to take it out Park. I have to step on the Brake Pedal several times before the solenoid will release the lever so I can put it in gear.

Any ideas before I take it to the Dealer?

Contact your dealer, there was a common issue with this...

I'm having the same problem, except it doesn't have to be cold. Sometimes I have to turn ignition off back on without trying to start and step on brake sometimes more than once then remove from park to neutral and then start. I took it to the selling dealer and they kept all day and said they could not get it to fail. They probably tried it 2 or 3 times and then moved on to something else that paid money. It was really kind of funny, I was 2nd in line that morning and guess what it locked and by the time I got it released everyone behind me had lost out to late comers who came in the back way due to the main drive being full of vehicles.:D

Unfortunately, the Dealer was being a PITA. Last weekend, seemed like everytime I went to put it in Drive, the solenoid stuck and prevented me from doing it. Magically, by Wednesday, it seemed to work every time I tried it.

The Dealer had the truck all day Friday, said they could not get it to "stick". So they did not replace anything! My wife went ballistic when she picked up the truck and found they did not fix it. The Service Manager actually told her that if it "sticks" or breaks down, it's covered under warranty and Ford will tow it. She asked him if he would put his wife in that situation (cold, dark parking lot, and cannot get hte truck in gear). He would not answer her. She got his Manager, who said there is a bypass. She said fine, show me. He could'nt get it to work, and finally, told the Service Manager to order the parts and replace them.

WHY?? This is the crap that gives Dealers and Ford a bad name. Thet actually made my wife feel like she was lying to them, what BS.

BTW, the same Dealer had a GT500 in the Showroom. I was looking at it when I dropped off the ST. Tag was $45K. "Market adjustment" was $19K. I told the Floor Mgr he was crazy when his salesman approached me like the car was worth it. WTF? Are these Aholes that disconnected?

When I bought the ST, I got a great deal, from a different Dealer. That guy sold out. Lost my connection. Bad

Mine has been sticking in park since I bought it a year and a half ago. I have taken it to the dealer several times and they dismiss the issue. Two friends of mine have other fords with the same issue. Both are females, both have had the console replaced.

What kills me is that the only 3 MINOR problems I've had with my truck haven't been experienced by anyone else.

And the stuff that you ALL seem to share, I've never had.

I've had no tranny issues, no shift interlock, etc.

I just had crappy tires, a non-functioning gas lift cylinder, and my headlights cracked.

WRONG Dingo.

I have the crappy tires. Mine are shot at 25k. Actually, they were shot at 20k and I have not replaced them yet. My right headlight is cracked in several places. What is the non-functioning gas lift cylinder. I'll bet I have that too.

Also, I have the down-shifting tranney.

My tires hit the wear bars at 8500 miles.

The gas lift cylinder holds the large bed compartment at the front open.

Incidentally, they replaced it under warranty, and the new one doesn't hold it open either.

The headlights and fogs were covered in tiny cracks. All 4 lights were replaced under warranty:

My headlight look like that Dingo.

Did they do the rotors and pads under warranty? I ask them and the service manager at Courtesy Ford in Conyers, GA and he said - "In order to meet todays five star rating, the rotors actually wear faster then the pads and the grooves in your rotors is normal."

<cough>Courtesy Ford sucks</cough>

So I have:

the hard downshift problem

the park-solenoid problem

the rotor problem

the cracked head light problem and

the crappy tire problem (not as bad as yours)

all of which the ford dealership named above will not fix

25k on mine and I plan to drop it off at another dealer and get all fixed before 36k.

I have not had the gas-lift problem...so I guess you are one ahead of me!

lol. Call Mall of GA Ford. Ask for Maria. Don't mention me. :D

Tell her what's wrong and she'll set an appointment. She hasn't even seen my rotors. I just told her how bad they are and she ordered the parts. She's obviously known me for years. They're doing them on Monday.

Yeah, I think I will do that. I bought my truck from Mall of Georgia Ford actually.

I doubt they will do my brakes not because of my mileage. Maybe they will fix the rest of my problems though.
