I took my 07 ST to visit a friend in NC and to my Uncle's place in SC before returning to MD. Driving the 07 ST with the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 was a very comfortable trip with accurate GPS guidance. This is the first trip I took by myself over such a distance. It was 430mi to NC, 370mi to SC and 600mi home. I was seeing 19-22MPG on this trip! My ST is ready to turn over 10k miles and it's only 4 months old.

Just before the trip, my personalized tags came in. My first choice came through without a hitch! Here's my Uncle posing with my 07 ST. He loved the ride compared to his Dakota.

Yep! The first plate was a ham plate with my callsign. Since there's no room for radio equipment in this ST, and since I wanted to be a show-off, I went with the V8 TRAC plate.

:D

Hey Pat!! Isn't it nice to travel alone? No wondering if someone else has to use the bathroom, the music is never too loud, it is never too hot or too cold or too windy, etc.. The AVIC makes it nice too I'm sure! I remember when I put my AVIC N1 in my '01 ST how much fun traveling became. I found so much stuff I never knew was there. IT won the wife over when she decided she wanted Red Lobster and we were what seemed like out in the boonies in PA on I 80 I think it was. Turned out there was one within 10 miles of where we were. Way better than a paper road map! Where at on your site are your AVIC install pics?? I do not see them and will be referencing them within the next couple of weeks as I will be taking delivery on the 1st (was supposed to be the 24th...but stuff happens I guess). How long you staying down that way?? Also if you get a chance, could you snap a couple of photos of where your sub is located? I did not get the audiophile option as I will be adding my own stuff and wanted to see if it was large enough for my XM tuner and Cd changer.. Thanks!!

*edit* Did you get the steering wheel controls to work?? What interface did you use if so?? Was it the PAC one (model??)

Hi A1! See the link below for the photos I took, ripping my stock head unit out and after the auto-sound guys put in my new AVIC.

Travelling alone was interesting. I certainly did enjoy jamming out to XM81 with the music so loud I couldn't hear myself. :) I was down in NC/SC for a week but am back in MD. I'll try to remember to get some pics of the area behind the rear seats.

The steering wheel controls are working due to the PAC SWI-PS module. The auto-sound folks wired it up.

Nice- I'm getting the AVIC-Z1, rear view camera and bypass circuit (allows full operation underway) insalled in my truck next week. Looking forward to it.

That is the steering wheel control interface I purchased as well. Guess I got lucky on that one... What functions can you do with it? I know it will let you do the volume, but can you switch sources, and with your XM does it scan up and down when you channel up to each cahnnel (8-9-10) or does it go through your presets??? Thanks for the pics in advance. Which way do you go back to MD?? Do you stay close to the ocean and use the bay bridge tunnel, or do you go inland??

You can change the volume, sources and up/down tracks as well as XM channels, channel by channel. It doesn't do it by presets.

I didn't get a chance to photograph tonight. The ride back was North to Charlotte, through Roanoke and home. I-20, I-77, I-81. I drove I-95 south and didn't like the traffic. It was 23 miles longer through the mountains but much nicer!

19-22 mpg is what I like to hear. Do you have the XCAL? Also, regarding the steering wheel controls, is what you described above the way it works with the Audiophile stereo w/Sirius as well? Curious if it goes channel by channnel or by preset with that stereo.

Pat, my feelings are really hurt...you were in South Carolina and didn't stop to say hello! depending on where you went, we are only about 5 miles off of I-95. Glad to hear you had a great trip. Love:wub::wub::wub:that license plate, it really stands out.

I do not have the Xcal2 installed, yet. We 07ST owners are awaiting the updates from SCT so that we can flash our PCM/TCM. I had the audiophile but not the Sirius so I can't comment on how that works.

Hi Rose. I'm sorry. :( I passed by the exits for Sumter on I-20 but was in a rush to get my visit in with my Uncle in North Augusta. I'm hoping to get down that way again within the year and hope to stay a week. That might give me the opportunity to stop by and say hello! I also want to visit Ft. Jackson again, my basic training post. Keep cool down there!
