Check out this real truck. While others are shifting truck design to be more car like, Ford designs theirs to cater those who really need them. I'm just not sure there's still a big market for it though. In any case, I hope Ford manages to meet sales expectations. Not for me, but I like it.

Looks like I will be getting an F-150 in 2012. I still have 4 years to go. If Ohio winters have thier way. If not, I will keep my Trac longer.

I keep them until the body gives up. Lord knows the engine will outlive the body.

I got something against IRS. I like my leaf springs.

My 2002 is the first and last Trac I will ever own...unless I find a 2005 Trac with 200,000 miles dirt cheap. My 1991 Escort GT has 354,000 miles and runs great.

I simply hate the 2nd Generation Trac.

Tom,

I wish my vehicles bodies would last long enough to get that mileage out of them... best i have gotten is 205,000 on the '90 Aerostar, 184,000 on 96 sable, 230,000 on '79 capri turbo..... salt up here is murder on bodies... they all still ran great when scrapped... the Trac, (148,000 mi) is starting to rust through in front of the front wheels above the front fascia attacment... Grrr.

You aint the only one. I hate, I'll stress, HATE IRS on pick ups. I'll keep my trac til it dies then buy used or whatever solid rear Ford offers.

FINALLY I get to see it without all that "cammo" on from the spy photos!!

amazing... (wiping drool off of desk)

waaaait... that grill is kinda f'ed

It blows my mind that they would waste their time and money for this possible production off-road F150 after they ditch the significantly better SVT Adrenalin concept.

It's cool looking though.

I too would prefer a solid rear axle. However, having owned both, I prefer the 2nd gen. It does everything the 1st does, but has a V8 (sounds cool with Magnaflow) and much better brakes, steering & manners and interior. I would really like to see a 2nd gen ST (interior, drivability, bed storage bins, V8, etc) with a solid rear axle, a bit more clearance (easy w/solid axle), put the front hooks back on, and a bed that is 4.5 or 5 feet long (just a bit more). I think they could package the front better to allow the cab to be moved forward and thus extend the bed without increasing overall length.

But, for the subject at hand, the Raptor is very cool! I would seriously consider it. A Ranger sized Raptor would be oh soooo cool.

You're absolutetly right, psycareyo. I don't get this either. Especially given the fact that SVT has no proven track record with developing and selling off-road vehicles.

With their reputation for developing street beasts, the SVT Adrenalin would've been a hit. But then again, SVT is no longer a "skunk-works" type of operation. They used to operation totally outside of the Ford product development process and chain of command, and weren't subject to the same marketing/budgeting/bean-counting scrutiny as regular production vehicles. They lost that independence, and that's what caused the departure of SVT boss John Coletti and many of the other "mavericks" (yes, I said it!:p) within SVT that were responsible for such great SVT vehicles like the Lightning, SVT Contour, SVT Focus, and assorted Cobra Mustangs.

Also, John Clor told me that one of the biggest customer feedback complaints/suggestions for the Lightning in the past was the absence of a full back seat. That's why the SVT Adrenalin was being developed. He assured me that it would've been a screamer. They were developing it with the '03-04 Cobra "Terminator" engine in it. John Clor witnessed may testing and development runs of the SVT Adrenalin mules, and he said they were monsters.

All I have to say is WOW!!!

I have been waiting for this truck to come into the light ever since they annouced it, I think this could be the truck that makes me get out of a Sport trac. That is if I could handle not having this site to waste time on every day. Humm, new Sport trac with super charged V-8 and fox racing coilovers, hummm, could be just as cool....

;)
