2.4l honda accord

Hey guys and gals, I just got a new job where I will be driving about an hour one way and will be working this job until I get on with Home Land Security Border Patrol, in who knows how long everything will take. So...Im going to drive my wifes 2004 Honda Accord EX, 2.4L 4cyl. I put a new air intake on it, and was thinking about a new exhaust, to get better milage, quicker response, and all that. Also dont want it to sound like a "rice burner" but more of a lower sound if possible.... Any way, I was wondering if any one had any ideas on size pipe, and what muffler, etc... Thanks for the help!

I don't know of any aftermarket exhaust or muffler for the Honda that will not sound like a weed whacker on crack.....



The intake will help, but the highway MPG are good on those cars...



of course with the mods you may have a heaver foot and negate any gains...

imo, i would leave the stock muffler on as you will probably not notice any gains.

i would leave a great dependable vehicle like the honda all stock.

ok, I was just curious as to what it would do to change it. It does get great mpg, but I thought if I could find something that would sound better and not as todd put it "like a weed whacker on crack" and help a little more I would do it. But I dont have any idea, so thanks for the help, Ill probably just leave it alone! My wife wouldnt like it either if she got in and realized it was louder all of a sudden one day!

i did an exhaust and intake on a 99 ford zx-2 and it did absoultely nothing. unless you want to dump a descent amount of money, it's not worth it and beleive me the exhaust will get annoying.

I drive a 94 Honda Accord EX as a daily driver and I don't reccomend making any changes from the stock configuration. Besides, it would take a loong time to recoup the cost spent on modifications...

My brother had a 1983 (or some ugly early 80's model) Ciic SI. He got it with a performance muffler already on it. The muffler finally rusted off. He seen a stock Civic SI exhaust at the dealer for cheap, so he got it.



He claimed it performed better than the performance one did.



On my Escort GT, it did make a difference. Got me a 1/2 second quicker on the 1/4 mile Trac.



Honda's are already maxed out from the factory. They will give all they are able to give from the start. There is little to no room for improvment.

tom, when you are talking 16 to 17 second 1/4 mile times , does it really matter?
