...of my sanity!

We were told yesterday by the doctors that the latest they will let my wife carry our twins (these are the twins we almost lost to the twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome - previous post) is the August 30th. So within in the next 2 weeks we will go from 2 boys to 4 boys! We've had quite a few complications and 40 or more ultrasounds, but we beat the odds and my wife will hopefully deliver the boys rather than have them born via C-section. They will be 33 1/2 weeks when they are born so they will have to go into the NICU for about 1-3 weeks. Even though they are coming very early, this has been the longest pregnancy we've experienced since the issues we've had (our other 2 children were full-term). I'm excited and nervous to meet them, and hopefully I'll be able to tell them apart (they're identical twins by the way).

Take lots of naps, I've got twins (boy/girl) the first few months we couldn't get them onto a schedule so the longest break we got was about 45 minutes without needing to do something for them :p

Best wishes, my kids were early also (36 weeks) and my daughter had to spend 10 days in the NICU. Everyone from all over the country that I have spoken to that had to deal with a NICU was always really impressed, they take good care of you and your kids.

Thanks JD. luckily for us we know that they will be going in there so we were able to tour the place and meet the nurses, other families get rushed in there. My sisters twins (fraternal boys) were born at one hospital and sent to the NICU at another hospital. Luckily we're going to avoid that, the hospital we are going to has a level 3 NICU.

My wife got mad at me the first 2 pregnancies, I would literally wake up enough, still half asleep, grab the baby give it to her to breastfeed, and roll back over an start snoring. I don't think I'll be able to get away with that this time around :banghead:

Andy, you should still be able to get away with that--just put one on each side of her, then go back to bed. Your only real issue is if the date comes and they discover it's actually triplets--then the third one has no where to go...:bwahaha:

I could try.... But I think the coworkers will know when I try to do that because I'll come to work with 2 black eyes. At least with 40 ultrasounds the odds of there really being a 3rd one in there is pretty slim!

Andy,

My prayers are with you. Hoping the Lord will see you, the misses and the twins. Through all this.

May he send, peace to your hearts and give the doctors perfect guidence.

I feel your pain. Identical twin girls, born at 31 weeks. Spent 4 weeks in NICU in Madison, wi. Healthy as horses, no problems, just a little early. Like JDBoxes, we would have an hour or so break to sleep at first. Great little girls now, almost 7. Hang tough and use your family if they are close, they helped us survive those first few months.
