I am in desperate need of 2 front tires. I was an idiot and i never rotated them so the back tires are like new. A guy I knew told me with the sporttrac i need to get 4 new tires instead of two because they will wear wrong and it will pull. Is this true? I don't know too much about tires.

You should be fine buying two, as long as you buy similar tires. Also they have to be exactly the same size, front and back. In other words, if you have the OEM Wrangler A/Ts on the back, buy A/T tires for the new set. Don't get an on-road/highway tire like the Michelin LTX, because it would be too dissimilar.

One other point, if you actually do have the Wranglers, you may want to buy four new tires, since those things were basically junk anyway for winter driving.

With a 4X4, the fronts and rears must be of the same size since when in 4X4, the fronts and rears must rotate at the same speed. To my knowledge, as long as the rears are the same as the fronts in size, there should be no problems. If you have a 2X4 you can even have different size rears (although definitely not recommended) without any mechanical problems. I'd go for only two new tires.

As mentioned above. Buy 2 tires and you'll be fine. Rotate your tires every third oil change and you will never have the same problem you are having now. I rotate them every second oil change.

how old are the tires if they are several years old i would get all 4 if money is not a big deal get all 4 and rotate them.

A new tire will only pull if it is on the same axle as an older tire. If you put the new tires on the front or rear it will be fine.
