hey guys! been checking this site out for 2 months and finally joined!....

I have an 01 ST 2WD with 85,000 miles....I have the typical low idle speed probs....also have the rattling issue from engine at 2,000 - 3,000 RPM....I noticed that when I put my truck in park at Idle it almost dies!....I'm leaning towards the Tranny TCC (sylenoid) or the DPFE sensor from research on this site....I also took my Truck to AutoZone (CEL) and it read the P0402 "excessive flow in gas recirculation system"...some pointers would greatly help!

The rattling noise yes, it almost sounds like a diesel...from reading here seems like it could be a timing chain issue......

Dennis, clean or replace your IAC before you get too deep into the TCC. Very common issue with the Trac. Simple to clean and MUCH cheaper then the TCC.

I did clean the IAC motor the other day with some CRC (electrical cleaner) then dabbed a little 3in1 on the plunger....it was dirty but it didn't seem to help....I was reading here that the DPFE sensor could be causing the idle issue along with the CEL reading P0402....thanks coastiejoe!......also looking for rear bumber

try pulling the intake duct and cleaning the butterfly valve.. thats what fixed my idle problems.. mine would stall when shifting from drive to park or drive to reverse...

dennis, welcome to the site. It's great isn't it. For your error code, check the gas cap. (sounds stupid but never know) also when was the filter last changed? (I know you just got it so who knows right?) Just a couple of ideas.
