My wife's car was doing the skid-mark-of-death on the instrument cluster, did some front-end work (Ball-joints, tie-rods, etc), after 125K of mileage, yeah, those front-end parts have to be replaced. Once replaced, new tires, and an alignment, and all of those codes that were coming up on the dashboard are now gone. She now has a V-6 4X4 that I can trust in any weather.
