2008 Gen 2 XLT Fuel Tank

Is the fuel tank plastic or metal (steel) on an 08 ST?. Limited research suggests the 08 Explorer & Sport Trac have plastic tanks which is what I want do to E85 and rust.

Plastic. At one time a skidplate was available from Ford because it was an option on fleet orders only but now they're scarce as the proverbial hen's teeth.
