I test drove a 2008 4x4 today and realized that there is no gear indicator on the dash display? Is that normal? The floor gears shift fine but I found it weird that there was nothing in the display indicating what gear I was in.

I've noticed many newer vehicles have that displayed on the instrument panel.
I wish my BMW Z4 that has a manual transmission had that feature, as Reverse is to the left of 1st gear. If a driver wasn't paying attention, it would be easy to place the car in reverse instead of 1st gear...
