Hi all. My wife's 2010 Escape has been having starting issues, at first I thought it was the clutch safety switch ( 5 speed stick ) or the security system, turn the key the lights on the dash come on but no power to starter. I have checked the Escape sites but not much info on the issue. At first it happened about 3 times but we where able to get the car started by pumping the clutch. I was wondering if this is Ford wide issue or are we just the luck ones. It happened again today so we had it towed, they replaced the battery and the clutch switch last time this happened.

Thanks for any thoughts or info.

Try your other key...

You may have either a defective chip or one that acts up occasionally...

But,,, since it is a 2010 I would also think it is covered, (depending on miles)..

When we get it back I'll try the other key if it does it again, it is still covered by warrenty but waiting for tow truck and getting rental car takes time. One of the reasons we got a new car was to aviod any troubles for a while, never knowing if it is going to start is a bit of a pita.

On the up side the Trac is running great! Of course my wife will want to drive that now untill the Escape is starting ok, that should take a week or so!

Swap around the relays in the underhood box. My Mom's '05 just decided it wasn't going to start and it about drove me nuts! It was a $%&% relay, don't remember which one though.

You're not using off-brand keys are you? FORD/Strattec only. OOOO, I bet your '10 has those high-buck 80-bit keys.

The dealer will take care of it, but still a pain when you walk out of work and car won't start, I'm just glad we have no kids in daycare or something like that.

I talked to the dealer today, they are going to keep it over night and test it again tomorrow, no codes from the PATS system, so they think it may be a short some where?

We just have the original Ford keys, with the remotes built in them.
