So the 2 options for the 2012 Explorer are the naturally-aspirated V6 or the turbocharged 4-cylinder?

I don't see why they don't offer the V6 Ecoboost as an option.

I thought that the frameless, monocoque/unibody construction was supposed to make the 2012 Explorer lighter, but this article says it weighs in at 4,550 pounds for the 4-cylinder model! That's ridiculous, and doesn't seem like an improvement over the old body-on-frame "manlier" design. Shoot, my ST is bigger, seems to drive better (I'm biased), and is more rugged than this new Explorer, and it weighs about the same. My ST is also 10 years older than this new explorer. This makes no sense!:banghead:

They did make it lighter but they filled it up with a bunch of other B.S. that weighs even more. Just all the standard safety equipment that is mandated by law adds several hundred pounds to a modern day vehicle, now lets throw in all the options that we just have to have on our vehicles so that we can keep up with the Joneses and I bet you get an easy 1000 lbs combined.
