I found some 15x8 x15 , 5-114.3 (5x4.5) -19 offset wheels and I would like some meatier tires on the st.

I know some have used 285s on their stock rims & those are actually a little taller then the 33s I'm looking at. Would this set-up work? would the rims be ok with the -19 offset? Thanks very much for any advice. BTW I have a 03 4x4

Edit: I also found other wheels with offsets of -19 to +18 (backspace of 6.0 to 4.3)

I want something wider & deeper dish but i'd like something that will allow the use of wider tires & maybe cause less rubbing. thanks

according to a website i visited the -19 offset equates to approx. 6.0 Backspace (if thats of any help) Thanks

Make sure those wheels fit first. Not all 15s fit over the calipers. A set I already had do not.

If they do, my first thought is that should be fine. Check this website.

If that 6.0" backspace is correct, that's way too much for a Sport Trac. Even with a body lift you need 3.75" backspace on an 8" wheel.

Unless I put it in the calculator wrong, that's not a 6.0" backspace.

i could certainly be wrong on that backspace----I'm new to all this tire stuff. all i know is the offset on the 15s was negative 19 (-19)

You know what? I think you are right. It looks like -19 is equal to 3.75 Backspacing----Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

Yeah, 15x8 and 15x10 are the most common offroad wheel sizes. If you can test fit atleast one front and one rear wheel before you buy them to check clearances of the tierod ends and calipers.

Definitely check them first. I have a set of 15x10 Outlaws that don't fit over the calipers.

I would be ordering them mounted & balanced from discount tire (online) Man i like the 15 inch black rock viper wheels but i would be taking a heck of a chance by not being able to test fit them huh? oh well maybe 16x8s & some wider tires----thanks for the info

The Black Rock Viper series is what I have, but in 17x8, and with 33x12.5. you should really test the fit, but sometimes you just have to make an educated guess.

You don't wanna go anywider than 33/12.50 because you'll have serious rubbing issues.

I have 285/75/16's on factory wheels with a 3" BL, SL, 1.75" TT, and 1.5" wheelspacers on all four corners

The 285/75/16 totals out to be a 32.8x11.2/16 (33x11.50x16) just so you know.

narrowing it down: What about 16x8.5 w/4.5 bs

16x8 w/4.26 bs

16x8 w/4.5 bs

and I'm gonna try 285s
