Twenty years ago, I shot a house sparrow with a BB gun. As it gasped on the ground, its mate picked her up and flew 150 feet with her before landing. I watched as he hopped around her until she died, then took off without her. It really affected me. I threw away the BB gun and haven't intentionally killed anything since.
