I just noticed my 4 X 4 knob was positioned on 4 X 4 low setting. Don't know how long its been on or how long I have been driving it that way, but 4 X 4 light was not illuminated. I just went and used the system and it functioned well though. Did I cause any damage and should I have my dealer look at it just in case? 2005 XLT Premium.

Even if you turn the knob to Low, it will not engage unless you are at a complete stop and your foot is on the brake and the transmission is in Neutral.

You have nothing to worry about. If it was in Low Range, you'd notice for sure.

Now you can shift from 2wd to 4-Hi while it's rolling however.

Nope, No damage or issues...

The system has a safety, IT has to be in 4x4 high first then 4x4 low... The system did what it was designed to to..
