When I engage 4 wheel high there is a loud clunk. This repeats every 5 seconds until I switch back to 2wd.

    Leland,
If you are still around, is it clunking while you are moving? IF so I think I had a 4x4 problem kinda similar. It would pop into and out of 4x4.

I tore into the TC and replaced everything that had some wear, but problem still there and ended up being the shift motor. It was the original, and with wear had started to overtravel, so the cam that moved the shift fork would start to move it back.

Anyway, there are several threads about TC clunking and jumping out you can check out.

Could be the front CV head on the drove shaft, tcase motor or other things.
