4x4 hiccup

i have an on going problem with the 4x4 system.

When i engage the 4x4 hi and i step on the gas i feel a bang, only in 4 hi?

Ford deal where i purchased the truck has jad it back 4 times for this problem.

they say that their tech line says that the truck is within proper specs.



Now this bang only happens in 4hi and only when i step on the gas. terrain doesnt matter rain, snow, dirt. I know that this HICCUP ( which is what the Service manger calls it) is not normal.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

CV joint? Mine did this once that I can remember, but never did it again. However, I had to have the CV/front drive shaft replaced about a year after it happened.

When you first pop it into 4x4 it will clunk or bang, this is normal. Don't forget, if you engage the switch it may not lock into 4x4 right away, it usually does it when you start to move, hence the bang when you step on the gas. If you are already driving around in 4x4, hit the gas and hear a bang something else is wrong.

It even says it in the owners manual that you may experience this... IT is normal..
