4X4 switch

Sometimes when I switch to 4X4, nothing happens. It appears that if the car is warm, I can not switch into 4X4. If the vehicle is cold, it usually switches O.K. Any ideas? Possiblt the switch?

There is a module at the passengers kick panel that fails often. Do a search and you will find that many have had to replace it.



It is connected between the switch and the engagement motor.

Mine does it very intermittently when its cold out...wierd. I usually just switch it back to 2wd and then try 4x4 again and it works fine.

Mine is either all or nothing. I can switch it 20 times and it will work 20 times or not work 20 times.

It sounds more like the actuator on the front differential instead of teh module under the kick panel.



When the module goes, 4wd never engages.



Someone else (Krash?) had this issue and hit it with a hammer and it engaged (like hitting a starter years ago).

Thed module has a relay on it and should give of a clicking sound when you put it to 4x4. Do you hear the click when it does not work?

When it works I hear the click. When it doesn't work there is no click and no light on the dash.

Sounds like the relay/module is going bad. Search my name for more info on this(past 30 days). Battery running out of my laptop. Bye..
