Cool, but are they remote controlled or do they have some kind of programmed logic built in?

I saw a video of where hollywood is experimenting with larger versions. With cameras mounted.

Redfish,

Since you have one, maybe you can answer my question about how they fly. I suspect that your operates under remote control, but how do they do formation flying? Do they have a separate remotes operating each quadrotors, or do they have some kind of sensors that keep a proper distance from each other and allow one person to fly all of the quadrotors from a single remote?

have to have

I don't think these are available on the market. I think they were created in research and are property of the university.

I suspect they may have some custom sensors for the lab demo that allow them to fly in formation, but I think that would be nice if they explains how they did it.

I was thinking they are each on their own frequency and a set flight path is programmed and assigned to the individual machines.

That's what I thought in my original post, but wondered just how they got them all syncronized so well. I wish they would have said how they did it.

I'm no engineer. If they did say how they did it, I'd still probably be lost.

i don't think they're individually programmed with a path, but can sense each other and distance between.

Example

Matt,

That was a pretty cool video. I originally thought it was just a computer animation, but when the guy walks into the picture to move one of the robots, then it became clear that the were all individual, autonamous robots programmed to execute patterns using some kind of proximity sensors.

I think the Quadrotors would have to even have more complex programming since they must operate within the added dimension of altitude.
