They will only prolong the life and longevity of the new leafsprings. I'll be swapping out my lift shackles for some add a leafs really soon.

If you're getting a new leaf pack anyway, I'd give serious consideration to SOA and getting flatter leaf packs custom made to give you the height and strength you want. I'm considering that myself. Don't really want any more height, but wouldn't mind moving everything up some.

Question for Jerry or Hugh did you get the add a leaf for the older explorer... 97 to 99 its the only one I can find on Amazon that I think should fit?

I dont understand how adding a leaf would increase towing capacity. Maybe allowable tong weight but it wouldn't improve braking or power.

I got the ProComp 13120; it's pretty universal and not specific to any one vehicle. Really, your only concern is the width of the leaf. That one will fit. Got for under $35 on Amazon and installed it in about an hour.

hugh i am pretty sure im going to get those and put em in... i noticed theat they also have an AAL that is a long leaf that does the same thing. which one would be better and does it really make much of a difference between long and short leaf?

I think I read that the longer one would be better for longevity and holding it's arch. Also adds more payload capacity than the shorter one. Don't quote me on those, though. Maybe someone else has better info.

All in all, I don't think it really makes a big difference for what you're trying to do.
