Anyone here know anything about the aFe brand of air filters? I'm looking to get a high flow filter for my wife's buick and was wondering which type would be better- the oiled or the dry(non-oiled). I think I would prefer the dry so none of the oil residue would contaminate the intake system but I'm not sure if it would be worth the price or if the amount of air would be any better than the OEM paper filters.

That still doesn't answer my question. I want to know how well the oil free filters perform. thanks for the info anyway

That depends. The Volant PowerCore filter is the doodoo.

The AEM ones are just doodoo. You'll need to be more specific.

I don't think that I want a oiled air filter, i have seen the crud built up on the butterfly of my ST's throttle body and only assume that some of that is from the K&N filter I'm using. Can U give me any advice on my dilema?

Get a Green filter. It's oiled, but it's woven cotton like a dress shirt, instead of gauze. Nothing comes off and hurts anything, and it outflows and outfilters a K&N.

Ray,

Funny thing about the oil build up on the tbody....

I just removed my Tbody that was installed 30K miles ago along with the Breather bypass, Guess what, IT was clean as the day I put it in..... The back had a little carbon from the EGR tube, but it was clean.....

The Cores i get from trucks with only 20K miles on them look like they were soaked in oil...

I am convinced, the bypass keeps the intake and tbody cleaner... Period...

I have the AEM filter. It works great for me. I work with a couple of guys that swear by them. Poor Mans auto here sells them and the guys there prefer them.
