considering replacing these crappy " chrome " overlay wheels on my 07 lmtd.

[Broken External Image]:

want to stay with the stock 18" wheels, but nothing on tire rack caught my attention. maybe black or gun metal with a chrome trim type of finish. here is a pic of the trac. it is dark stone metallic.

any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

Look into the wheels that come on the ironman edition of the explorer they are real sweet and they are 18s so you wouldnt even have to get new tires.... gotta love saving some money. Plus I imagine they would interface with the TPM system

I'd also like to know what tire / wheel combo works well on the '07's. I was thinkimg of some 20's cause the stock tires are just too skinny! What combos work well? Has anyone got pictures with data to back it up?

Thanks.

I installed 265/65/R18 BFG All-Terrain TA's on the factory 18x7.5 machined wheels. The tires have a section width of 10.7" and are 31.7" in diameter. They rub the front suspension ever so slightly at full lock. Only noticeable in reverse. I would guess this is about the max you would want to try. They fill the wheel-wells nicely. Bridgestone also offers a couple of versions of the Dueler in this size with similar specs. I have noticed that the speedometer is off by about 10%. Hope to correct that with a programmer, probably the Xcal2. Probably a little more road noise than the stock Michelins but the stereo takes care of that. ;)
