Aloha guys,

This morning the computer didn't boot Instead, it said "could not find NTLDR use ctl alt delt to restart computer". I did and got the same. Next I put in the boot disk, thinking it would boot from the disk and find NTLDR. I still got the same message. Shouldn't the computer boot from the disk?

Any ideas what next? TKS Ed

NTLDR error is typically either bad hard drive, or really messed up OS.

If your bios isn't set to boot off of CD before HD it would just keep trying the HD first. You can try entering bios (f1, f2, del, during bootup are the normal keys but I don't know your computer) and adjusting the boot sequence/priority and make sure the CD/DVD is the first on the list.

My daughters did the same thing. What I did was take the hard drive out (since it doesn't get used much) for a long time thinking I'll just see about getting a new hard drive. I just actually put the old one back in, and it started right up as normal! go figure... my computer guru friend said it just recognized 'new hardware' and started as if it was actually new.
