My daughter and a couple of friends went sledding tonight and when the got back to my Sport Trac they got in and started closing the doors when all of a sudden ALL 4 SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED!!! They did not slam the doors any harder than they had been closed at any other time in the past 6 years that I have owned the truck. Anyone ever hear of others having this issue? And now what do I do?

Side bag deployment without front bag deployment usually happens in a roll-over. Are you sure you didn't turn over and just don't remember........:smack:

Sorry, I'm being a smart a**.

There are more and more of these deployments happening. I'd suggest doing a search on "FORD INADVERTENT SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT" and you'll find others in the same situation and some of the actions they are taking. I don't know that any of them are getting any satisfaction from Ford but this is a "stewing pot" I assure you. The "black box", they say, will have recorded the last 30 +/- seconds of events prior to deployment. A local TV/News interview might be a good place to start.

You are not going to get any satisifaction from Ford. If they look at "crash data" they are going to say that the vehicle was in a roll over and that is why the aribags deployed. Best that you can do is file a report with the NHTSA.

It seems sometimes as if the roll over sensors are a little to sensitive at times adn this is what casues the airbags to deploy. Ford has ran into this issue once before back in 2000 or 2001 with the Explorer where the curtain airbags would deploy if you tried to fasten your seat belt. To my knowledge there are no recalls or even tsb's concerning the airbags for your vehicle. I wish you luck if you try to persue Ford on this one...your gonna need it

That's no surprise is it?

Maybe they would want the vehicle as an advertising answer to the old Explorer roll-over issues since crash data will show this one rolled over without a scratch!

NHTSA already has an ear full of these.
