Air Leak around gas pedal

Sometimes when I take my foot of the gas pedal, I'm hearing what sounds like an air leak or hissing sound around the pedal area. When I put my foot back on the pedal and accelerate it goes away and when I release it I hear the hissing air sound again. This only does this SOMETIMES. Does anyone know what it is?

That is "vacuum relief". It bugs me but it is "normal".

Your ok as long as the Hissing sound is not followed by a rattle ...

Check for any loose thin white hoses in the passenger footwell, under the glove box.

I asked my dealer about the exact same sound and I got an answer similar to Dave's. They said that it's a pressure release from a vacuum hose and is normal.

Same thing here Larry. I have an 04 with about 15K miles and I've been hearing the sound for quite some time. I was worried about it first but have also been advised that it's just a 'vacuum release'. It's very intermittent and I never could stop the Trac and look for the culprit because the noise would go away as soon as I put the gear in park.
