I use my air vent control 98% of the time. It produces very cold air, therefore, I rarely use the actual A/C control. My air vent suddenly stopped producing cold air (air flow continues, only warm). However, the A/C control still works and produces the cold air. Any comments about the air vent losing the cold air flow?

I am a bit confused by your description.

However, with our climate controls they are vacuum controlled. Look for a vacuum hose that has come off under the hood first as it it the easier of the two places to look.

Second, you need to look under the dash to see if the vacuum block and or hoses are attached to the controls.

There is another vacuum line that is behind the dash on the passengers side. Fairly common for it to disconnect and you lose controls of the A/C control.

I think you've been getting the benefits of AC in the vent position. I don't know why it's been doing that, but I've been in Austin in the summer, and the vent position will not normally produce cold air on a warm day. Usually the vent allows you to have the benefits of an open window without messing your hair up, but it won't make it any colder.

If your vent produces cold enough air that you don't use A/C, then I want my money back. Seriously though, the air coming out of the vents is only going to be as cold as the air going in.

I know exactly what Johnny is talking about...I hardly ever use my AC because just the vent on the cold setting is almost as cold as the AC...saves gas too. Only on EXTREMELY hot days do I use the AC mine has never stopped working though

I'm with Joey on this one.... If someone else's ST blows cold air on Vent then I want your ST!

"Vent" is just that... a vent, blowing air straight in from outside. I too suspect you've been getting the benefits of AC without having the knob turned all the way over. Probably an issue with the switch.

i appreciate the the responses....(vent air over A/C). I've had a 94 Ranger that was the same. Cold air from the vents setting. My ST is an 03. If i'm not supposed to get cold air from the vent setting I guess I've been spoiled all these years and didn't know it. Thanks

It's too rainy to go look at my Owner's Manual but I think the only 'vent' position where the A/C is off is the dash only position. I think anything with footwell vent has A/C.

You must be using the Foot/Face setting. In this configuration you are using the A/C Compressor the same way that you would if you were using the A/C. No difference in mileage. Kind of like you going to the doctor complaining of some pain and he gives you some sugar pills telling you they are pain pills. You just believe that that setting is saving you gas, when it is actually the same as running it in the A/C Setting...
