I asked this several months ago. I am looking for a way to hook a remote wire to the alarm power wire. Basically what i need is when the alarm goes off in my st, my strobe lights and LED's come on. We have had alot of break ins in the nieghborhood, and im assuming if someone tried to steal my st with strobes and led's firing they will quickly stop and run off or atleast draw alot of attention. I am trying to find where the wire is located so any help such as location, color pattern, etc would be most helpful. I just plan on jumping a wire from it to the cold side of a switch so that when the alarm is triggered or activated the lights flash. :D

Aloha Josh,

Why not jump from the horn and include a switch while you are driving?

Good luck Ed

Simple,, put a relay between the horn and the strobe that has a switch on it. Power the switch on when you are leaving the vehicle for the night.

If the horn is activated the strobes will turn on...

2004. couldnt i just find the wire that becomes "Hot" when the anti theft system is activiated and provides power to devices (audible alarm / headlights / taillights) and tap off of it using a splice and run that new wire to the power supply power wire?

Use a relay to trigger the strobes.

- Connect Pins 85 & 87 to ground.

- Connect Pin 86 to 12v supplying the horn

- Connect Pin 30 to the ground side of the strobe lights.

When the horn sounds the lights will trigger. If you'd like to disable the strobe lights with a switch so they wont activate when the horn sounds you can put a switch between 85 and the ground. Dont forget to fuse the 12v line of the strobes if it doesn't have one already. Here is a link to what type of relay you are looking for.

The lights (strobe) are pre-existing as far as this application goes. they are already set up on a toggle for work. I guess this is more complicated than i originally thought lol. Basically i need them for work, and would like them to work when the alarm is triggered. But more so i need them for work. Local lawenforcment have it set up so when they arm thier alarm, thier light bars flash, and in the event someone attempts to break into the car, the light bar lights up. However they have no clue how the tech did it. SO no luck there.

By using a relay you will not need to install any heavy wire other than what you have already done.

It is the better of the options as you will not affect any of the loads on the OEM fuses and what not.
