Alternator Brands

I keep searching the internet for a new Alternator. I think mine is about to kick the ghost. I have a 2004 Sport Trac and the Alternator is OEM. Is there like an ideal or better brand when i am shopping these. I see like Quality-Built, USA Industries, Bosch. I am just un sure if one has a better review than the others.



Any ideas?

One thing to keep in mind is, that the Standard Explorer has a higher amperage alternator that our Tracs. In fact, there was/is a TSB on the Tracs alternator and the fix is that Ford installs the same year OEM Explorer alternator.



So, when you make the change, I would go with the Explorer alternator..

Just have yours tested.... Alts can last 300K miles or fail like any thing else.... IF it tests good don't fix what isn't broken..

Make some calls to you local parts store. Ask if they are new or rebuilt, warranty, etc. Get new if possible, and economical feasible.
