"For unattractiveness, Philadelphia just beat out Washington DC and Dallas/Fort Worth for the bottom spot. Miami and San Diego are home to the most attractive people, the poll found."

I want to see the geniuses that they surveyed. The last time I checked, Dallas was full of beatiful women.

I don't know whats going on in Dallas or San Diego but I live in the Miami area and south east Florida is just ridiculous with beautiful women. One thing you do need to take into consideration however is none of them are of American heritage. Some may be citizens but most are not. Everything from Latin to Scandinavian and all points in between.

Just got back from PA....had a wonderfil time. Only problem

was finding where they hide their beer!:p

At the licensed beer distributors and hard alchol at the licensed liquor distributors.

Or in other states  Now if you live in a dry county...more travel to get it all  That is just the weirdest thing I had to get used to when I visited there the distributors. I've always lived in states where you can go to the grocery store and buy beer. But not in PA. I'll be moving there in 12 days. So much to get used to and adjust to. :)

You want weird? How about our distributors with drive-through windows. Nothing says we abhor drinking and driving more than passing a 30 pack through the driver's window. :)

I can handle the drive thru windows, liquor stores in CO and here in AZ have those, but if I want to buy groceries and get beer or alcohal..I can ..well at least for now I can :D

I did find out that PA has low fees for vehicle registration/tagging fees..

well tags here include the registration in AZ. and it is expensive!

GM,

Welcome to PA. The package stores sell in cases only. If you want a six pack find a local bar. Most sell overpriced six packs if you don't need your beer in bulk.

What part of PA you moving to if you don't mind my asking?

Philadelphians' self-esteem has been undermined by national surveys showing they are among the fattest people in the United States. The American Obesity Association ranked the city in the top 10 for overweight people every year between 2000 and 2005.

As far as the beer, our standard answer in grocery or convenience stores when people ask is, "You're not from here, are you?"

Same here in Texas. Grocery stores can only get a wine and beer license. Only liquor stores can sell the hard stuff also. Most grocery stores sell wine and beer much cheaper since they buy in bigger quantities. I don't think I could live in a state that didn't sell beer in a grocery store. First time I have ever heard of such a thing.

TomT,

It's not that bad. It takes a little to get used to, but not much. Coming from NY we had liquor stores (private, but required a liquor license), there were beer distributors and grocery stores sold beer.

Not having beer sold in the grocery stores here isn't that big of a deal. It wasn't until a couple of decades ago that most grocery stores were open on Sundays. It was only within the last couple of years that the state run liquor/wine store was open Sunday afternoons.

It's all in what you are used to, and you get used to new with very little difficulty.

They serve beer in KFC here, but not through the drive-thru. :)

I stopped in Philly's airport a few times before the military moved their eastern MAC terminal to BWI. Shortly before the decision to move, the Philly United Way decided to eliminate their funding of the local USO.

The USO in Philly had a really nice lounge set up for us GIs as we were coming to and from overseas assignments and deployments. Apparently, the Philly United Way saw that as not a good use of their money. Baltimore has a beautiful air terminal and their USO is top-notch. Seattle has a nice one also at SEA-TAC. You cannot underestimate the value of these rest spots for GIs that are making long journeys which sometimes take days to complete.

My only memory of Philly is as I described above.

Oh TJR, thank you! and sorry I missed your question, North West corner, Pa near Ohio border small town, not popular or populated at all,

My future husband was born and raised in same county Crawford CO, PA. :)
